Mark McTeer, AIA
My career in architecture began at the age of 20 when I traded in an industrial welding hood and respirator for a shirt and tie in a new life with Vigen and Associates; a Central Valley architectural firm where I learned some basics and developed a love for the profession. This job was a huge professional and personal break for me and my gratitude to Gary Timan Vigen for taking a chance on me is immense. Since then I’ve continued to volunteer my time to help others as my own way of paying it forward.
It’s true I didn’t graduate from an Ivy League design school. In fact my career path has at times been neither anything glamorous nor particularly easy. Yet somewhere along the way I learned a thing or two about getting things designed and built; particularly the technical, technological, organizational, and people skills I’ve developed over the years. I have a reputation for getting things done while having fun and enjoying the process with others along the way.
I am acutely aware of cost control, quality control, and schedule issues that can have huge impacts on projects.
